Population The population is 20 million approximately (2001 census) with a population density of 78.9 persons per square kilometer.
Language The official language is english, it is also the language of instruction in schools in Ghana. Other local language widely spoken is AKAN. Ewe, Ga and Mole-Dagbani have slight but significant presence in the Ghanaian society. Not to forget that there are 52 major languages and hundreds of dialects in Ghana with over 60 ethnic groups and lots of cross-cultural marriages in the society fostering unity and harmony.
Government A multiparty democracy practicing state with three arms of government (The Executive, Judiciary and Legislature). Formerly a British colony, independence since 1957 with a stable democratic government since the 1992. Currently with J.A. Kuffour as president and Accra as the capital of the country.
Religion Predominantly Christians with a minority muslims(15%) and other sects. The country is a free state for everyones religion.
