HOW TO GET THERE…

The Kotoka International Airport serviced by KLM from Amsterdam, British Airways from London, Heathrow, Emirates from Dubai, Lufthansa from Frankfurt, Germany, Ethiopian Airlines from Addis Ababa, Delta Airlines from USA, Egypt Air from Cairo, Kenya Airways from Nairobi, North American Airlines from the USA, Alitalia from Milan, Afriqiyah Airways from Tripoli, American Airlines co-share with BA from London, South African Airways from Johannesburg, Air Ivoire from Abidjan, Belview from Lagos and notably the home based airlines Ghana International airlines and Ghana Tours(Astreaus) will take you to Gatwick Airport. It’s situated 5 minutes drive from a cluster of hotels ranging from 5star to budget status hotels.

 

PASSPORTS & VISAS

A valid national passport is mandatory. Most nationals arriving in Ghana require appropriate visas except for ECOWAS nationals. Visa requirements are subject to change and should be checked in advance prior to traveling to Ghana, from the High Commission or the Ghanaian Embassy in your country. However in emergency situations, Visas can be acquired on arrival with pre-arranged authority from the Director of Immigration.


LANGUAGE:

English remains the official language, widely spoken and to a fairly high standard.


HEALTH

A certificate of Yellow Fever vaccination is required. All visitors are reminded to take malaria prophylactic drugs. It is equally advisable to drink purified bottled water.


CURRENCY

The Ghana Cedi is the Ghanaian currency but the US dollar remains the Unit of Construction but GB pound Euro and other major currencies are widely acceptable.

WHEN TO VISIT

Ghana can be visited at all times, depending on what the tourist’s expectation is.

WHAT TO WEAR

Weather conditions in Ghana are generally warm so visitors are advised to bring along but light clothes, such as simple shirts and T-shirt, however sweatshirts and jumpers are better used against the heavy sea breeze and slightly chillier nocturnal temperatures in the eastern highlands. A hat, sunglasses and (during the raining season) a waterproof jacket are recommended.
